How often can I do a mock exam?

Each mock exam uses one attempt token. Your plan includes a set number of tokens, and you can buy more at any time from the exam dashboard. There is no waiting period between attempts. You can retake as soon as you'd like.

Do I see the questions after I finish?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Once you submit, you can review every question and see which answers were correct or incorrect. Click "Check My Answers" on your results page to go through them one by one. You also get a performance summary showing your score. Students with Pro Insights get additional analytics like comparison against other candidates, per topic performance, correct/incorrect/unanswered table, and a time-per-task chart.

How many mock exam attempts do I get, and can I buy more?

Most plans includes 1-2 attempts. Each attempt uses one token from your balance, shown on the exam dashboard. If you need more, go to the dashboard and click "Buy Attempts." A single attempt costs €28, or get unlimited attempts plus Pro Insights for €60.

The mock exam includes the same tools available in the real exam: Calculator, Drawing board, Notepad, Formula sheet, Question list.
These are built into the exam interface and match what you will have on test day.

How many questions are in the mock exam?

The mock exam has ~31 tasks, each with 5 true/false statements, giving 155 questions in total. This matches the format and question count of the real BBE exam.

Can I jump between questions during the exam?

Yes. Use the question list in the sidebar to navigate to any task at any time. You can go back to previous questions, skip ahead, and return to unanswered ones before submitting.

WU does not publish past BBE exams. Our mock exams are built to closely match the real exam in format, difficulty, and topic coverage, so they are the most realistic preparation available.

Do I need to complete the mock exam in a specific order?

No. You can navigate between tasks freely and complete them in any order. That said, it is worth prioritizing economics and math tasks, as these contribute more to your final score.

What is the difference between the mock exam and the real exam?

The content, structure, and timing are the same: number of tasks, 5 true/false statements each, 2 hours. The main difference is the medium. The real exam is paper-based and taken in person at WU Vienna. The mock exam is online, with digital versions of the same tools: calculator, notepad, drawing board, and formula sheet.

How much time should I take?

The real exam runs for **2 hours** in 2026 (down from 2.5h), so pacing matters more than before, and there is no reward for finishing early, so use every minute.

A workable approach:

- Avoid reading a task thoroughly just to skip it afterwards, because then you have to read it again when you return to it, which loses time. Give it a quick look and make a fast decision.
- Move quickly through the language part (it carries the fewest points) and work Economics carefully but without overthinking. Aim to finish both in roughly **45 minutes**.
- Give the rest of your time to Mathematics. Divide the time left by the tasks remaining to set a per-task ceiling, and never spend more than ~8 minutes on a single task, since getting stuck usually means a lack of understanding that costs both points and time.
- In Mathematics, start with the tasks you are most confident in and leave the trickiest ones for the end.

If free navigation is allowed, which component would you recommend starting with?

Free navigation is allowed, so you choose your own order. Our recommendation: **Economics, then Language, then Mathematics.**

- **Start with Economics.** It carries strong point value, and under partial-credit scoring mistakes there are the most costly, so give it your sharpest, freshest attention and bank those points early.
- **Then Language (English),** work quickly to save time for maths.
- **Finish with Mathematics.** Lock in the questions you are confident on first and leave the trickiest ones for the end.

What should I start with?

Start with **Economics**, then the language part (English for BBE), and finish with **Mathematics**. Economics is high-value, so tackle it first while you are freshest; move quickly through English; and leave Mathematics for last, locking in the questions you are confident on before the trickier ones. The same order works whether you are practising or sitting the real exam.

What time-management approach would you suggest across the components?

With only **2 hours** for the whole exam, allocate your time deliberately across the three components:

- **English** (fewest points): move through it quickly and do not overthink.
- **Economics:** work carefully to avoid sloppy errors under partial-credit scoring, but do not overthink. Aim to wrap up Language and Economics in about **45 minutes** combined.
- **Mathematics** (most time-intensive): give it the bulk of your remaining time. Set a per-task ceiling (time left / tasks remaining) and cap any single task at ~8 minutes. If it is taking longer, move on and come back if you have time left. Do not leave a question blank, give it a shot. If you have to guess, pick just a few that sound most reasonable.

In Mathematics, do the questions you are confident on first and save the hardest for last. There is no bonus for finishing early, so use the full time.
